Darkest Before Dawn by Stevie J. Cole

Stevie J. Cole has given us a story of fate - lives intertwined long before they are even aware of one another. Max's characters is a conundrum - he's gentle yet savage; he's God and devil. Ava has been through unthinkable tragedies both as a young child and as a young lady. Her strength to survive despite the circumstances really resonates throughout the story. She lives with being a mess on the inside yet appearing put together on the outside. Their relationship is like Stockholm Syndrome with a twist. Imagine yourself in love - doing all the wrong things for all the right reasons. Sometimes doing the right thing can be so wrong & doing the wrong thing can be oh so right. Then throw in manipulation and coercion where the lives are torn apart and broken.

"True love comes from loving the dark parts of someone, the broken parts."
Throughout the story I was constantly asking questions trying to imagine where the next turn of the page will take us. Stevie J. Cole has given us two broken souls who find a common bond where they feel better in the dark rather than in the light.
